Congressional Intern for District Office of Congressmen Carlos Gimenez (FL-28)

The office of Congressmen Carlos Gimenez (FL-28) is accepting applications for our Spring 2025 internship class in his Miami, FL district office over the Spring Semester. This is a 3-month internship.  Please note this is not a permanent position, but an internship. 

Duties Include: 

  • Administrative Tasks:  Answering the phone, greeting constituents, organizing documents.
  • Events and Meetings: Research community engagements/activities, assist in planning/organizing district events or meetings for the Congressmen, accompany staff on community outreach.
  • Constituent Services: Assist staff with research and communication with constituents, organizations and federal agencies.
  • Additional duties as needed. 

We are seeking candidates who have the following qualifications: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Detail-Oriented
  • Organized and flexible
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Undergraduate/Graduate students
  • Applicants with ties to Florida's 28th Congressional District are preferred but not required
  • Ideal candidates must be able to work 3-5 days a week, at least 25 hours a week.
  • MUST be fluent in English and Spanish
  • MUST be able to commute to the physical office location at 14421 SW 120th Street, Miami, FL 33186.

In addition, to be employed by a House office in a paid position (including internships) in the continental United States an individual must: 

  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Be lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)(B);
  • Be (i) admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157 or granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. § 1158 and (ii) have filed a declaration of intention to become a lawful permanent resident and then a citizen when eligible; or
  • Owe allegiance to the U.S. (i.e., qualify as a non-citizen U.S. national under federal law).
