Community Engaged Service Support CEA
The Community Engaged Service Support CEA works directly with a faculty or staff mentor to support the creation, expansion, or deepening of a community engagement/service learning project or program not connected to a specific course. In a community engaged service role, the employee should possess strong leadership and self-autonomy qualities as their responsibilities encompass administrative tasks, meeting coordination and programming obligations, and effective decision-making. Work may include but is not limited to collecting information, maintaining records and schedules, practicing written and oral communication, assisting with logistics, planning with community partners, and implementing program assessment and evaluation.

Project Summary and Goals:
The goals of the Community Connections Hub project are to create asset-based learning environments for students, families, and community members that protect, honor, and value curiosity, harmony, and positive cultural connections in family and community engagement. In addition, the project will build community-based academic allies who will work with the university to close academic opportunity gaps and improve the social emotional development and wellbeing of students in marginalized communities. Since education is a basic human right, this project will provide literacy support to family and community members by creating academic connections and providing equitable access to resources and services to specifically address Senate Bill 1’s mandate of increasing reading comprehension skills for students in grade 3. Therefore, this project will bring together families, community members, and the OCE staff to work collaboratively on improving early learners’ literacy skills through reading activities in the Community Connections Hub for family and community engagement.
Positions, Duties, and Tasks:
The Community Engaged Associate will work with the Family, School, and Neighborhood Engagement faculty and staff to build strong relationships with families and community partners in the Community Connection Hub to improve students' literacy by connecting with libraries and community centers. The CEA will implement community engaged best practices, technology, resources, and strategies to address the community's educational needs and improve students' and families' literacy wellbeing. Seeking the creativity and innovation of a CEA to help implement authentic family and community engagement with a focus on literacy. We are interested in adding a CEA with technological mastery to our team to support our office with communication between community partners and the university and to maintain our social media presence.

Availability needed for the CEA(s) schedule:
Weekly availability from 10 AM - 2 PM, flexibility in hours will be considered based on student class schedule
