Position Description:

This position supports the Tell Someone Program and Support and Safety Assessment. Tell Someone is a referral resource for individuals concerned about students or employees who may be struggling with issues such as mental health, stress management, and safety. Reporting Parties also may share concerns about threats of violence to others or the campus community. The Tell Someone Program Aide reviews all Tell Someone reports, reviews relevant data management systems and coordinates appropriate responses and support based on the concern.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Development, Student Affairs, Education or related field; or Bachelor’s Degree in listed fields and 2 years related professional experience

• Demonstrated attention to detail with strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills

• Proficiency in utilizing technology, data management, and other software applications

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience working with individuals experiencing crisis

• Demonstrated experience with critical thinking and problem-solving complex situations

• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and inclusion

• Experience working on a college campus and knowledge of campus trends

• Knowledge of First Amendment rights and free speech in a campus environment

Essential Duties

Tell Someone/Bias Programs - 70%

• Provide assistance with the Tell Someone Program and the Incidents of Bias Program. Receive telephone and online referrals and use judgement and training to evaluate reported information to assess for risk factors and determine an appropriate response, including direct outreach to individuals of concern or referral to campus and community partners for action. Utilize university records to supplement reported information for assessment of appropriate response.

• Communicate with reporting parties to discern and assess relevant information for next steps. Provide resources and coaching to support reporting parties as needed.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of reports to Tell Someone and Incidents of Bias, including communications, follow-up, and outcomes. Administer surveys, collect feedback, run reports, and track data for Tell Someone and Incidents of Bias.

• Develop and maintain working relationships with campus and community partners. Serve on committees to support mission as necessary.

• Remain current on issues and trends in higher education, campus climate, and diversity and inclusion.

• Assist with marketing and advertisement efforts of Tell Someone.

• Track individuals of concern (i.e. faculty, staff or students) and follow-up to ensure that their individual needs are met; follow-up with reporting parties as needed.

• Review other reporting mechanisms in order to track students or employees of concerns and monitor related cases.

Training and Consultation- 20%

• Present trainings to CSU departments, clubs, and residence halls to better inform the community of the Tell Someone Program and Incidents of Bias Program, and the other resources available through Support and Safety Assessment.

• Meet and consult with services and resources on campus and in the community to build networks and learn about resources that could support people of concern.

Administrative- 10 %

• Maintain current and detailed records of reports, communications, and referrals. Prioritize responsibilities to self-manage daily operations.

• Support general office operations by providing excellent customer service to constituents contacting the office by phone, writing, or in person.

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the office, campus, and community partners.

• Represent the university with dignity and embody CSU’s Principles of Community through interactions on campus and in the community.
