Distribution Engineer Intern

This position is a temporary internship role from roughly May 2025-September 2025

 

 

 

Reports to: Distribution Manager                                                                

 

Position Objective:

Internship position responsible for assisting the Distribution Manager and Supervisors to achieve the below objective: Continuously improving distribution process to ensure that daily operations are capable of meeting demand and space expectations. Must hold paramount achieving customer excellence and employee safety. Provide Supervisory team support in daily operations to develop and implement improvement projects in receipt processing, order picking, and capacity management.

 

Assist the Production Director and Supervisors in the below responsibilities:

  • Lead lean initiatives including demand-driven continuous flow, 5-S, and elimination of wastes through the use of lean principles. Track progress by the use of setting goals and tracking progress to ensure goals are met.
  • Work hand in hand with supervisors in supporting the daily production expectations and plan.
  • Work hand in hand with operations team to plan and execute distribution projects. 
  •  Work with supervisors and operators to identify and execute cost reduction projects and/or ergonomic process improvements.
  •  Perform other duties and assume accountability as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

 

Relationship to Others:

 

Supervisors:  will receive work direction. 

Distribution Manager:  provide weekly reviews.

 

Distribution Leads: provide work direction and assistance as needed to develop, improve, and implement efficiency and process recommendations.

 

 

Dimensions of Position:

Assist Distribution Supervisors in daily execution of logistics plan and development of improvement projects.

 

Provide work guidance, as appropriate, to distribution team.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

Education

  • In pursuit or has a Bachelor of Science in an Industrial Engineering Degree. Completed most or all upper division courses. 

 

Experience

  • Past work in an distribution environments desirablenot required.
