Herron Career Services Student Associate
General purpose of position:
The Herron Career Services Student Associate assists career services staff in the promotion and delivery of high-quality events and services for Herron students. The Student Associate will provide assistance in the form of communications, event promotion and management, and administrative tasks. The Student Associate is highly valued for their can-do attitude, ability to help with a variety of tasks, and their unique perspective as a current student at the Herron School of Art and Design.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current Herron student in good academic standing.
- Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented, creative, and able to problem solve with minimal supervision.
STRONG CANDIDATES WILL ALSO DEMONSTRATE:
- Strong writing skills
- Previous experience with social media
- A sincere interest in helping students succeed in college and career
- Genuine enthusiasm for Herron and its academic programs
- Openness to learning new skills and tools
RESPONSIBITILITES
40% Communication
- Assist in gathering and editing accurate and timely information for weekly student-facing newsletter.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials for events and services.
- Create social media content to promote Herron Career Services, in coordination with Herron’s overall social media strategy.
- Attend social media strategy meetings.
- Assist in effort to share student success stories internally and externally.
30% Event management
- Assist with set up and tear down of career services events.
- Document events (photo and/or video) for reporting purposes.
- Manage attendance and/or check-in at events.
- Assist with event hosting duties, including arranging food and beverage.
30% Administrative
- Assist in annual and ongoing metrics reporting and First Destination Survey efforts.
- Provide feedback and ideas to Career Services staff for how to improve and enhance services for Herron students.
- Other projects according to interest area and as assigned by Herron Career Services staff.
TIME COMMITMENT
- 8-15 hours per week, variable depending on available work.
- Core hours must be completed between 8am-4pm; work schedule will be determined upon hire in relation to the candidate’s course schedule.
- Specific events, some outside of the core hours, may be required and will be agreed upon in advance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is a hybrid role with no more than half of the hours being remote.
- A shared workstation is available for use.

- Associate Director of Career Services, Herron School of Art and Design
