CTE-Family & Consumer Science/Ag Teacher

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to help students develop the skills that they need to be successful in adulthood.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

FACS/Ag teachers teach a variety of topics, including family dynamics, nutrition, health, relationships, time management, and personal finance. They may also teach cooking and sewing techniques, food science and/or other subjects related to Agricultural science and management. 

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Uses a variety of equipment provided by the school including kitchen appliances, sewing machines, washers/dryers, etc. There is also a barn on the district campus.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications Profile

• Certification/License:
• NYS Certification as a Family and Consumer Science Teacher or Agriculture Teacher
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education

• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
