Intern, Cyber Security

Our 2025 program consists of full-time, paid internships that will run from June 9th to August 29th. This is a non-exempt role with a salary range of $25.00-$30.00 per hour.
Eligibility Requirements
- Our internship program is remote based; however, the intern must be in the United States.
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited college or university during the internship.
- GPA of 3.0 or above (based on a 4.0 scale)
- Available to work full time (40 hours/week) for the entire program (June 9th - August 29th).
- Required to undergo a pre-employment background check.
Working closely with the department, the Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Provide technical security expertise to ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of Somos technologies platform, solutions, company & customer data.
- Drive the development and adoption of security standards, best practices, and technologies within Somos products to enable security and privacy by design and ultimately a highly secure and compliant environment.
- Perform security assessments and application threat modeling throughout the Somos organization and software development lifecycle.
- Work in conjunction with Product Engineering & DevOps to enable secure & compliant deployments through system hardening, application security capabilities, threat prevention, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, incident response controls, etc.
- Review, respond and resolve alerts originating EDR platform to ensure appropriate system processing and applications requirements are met in a timely manner
- Ensure SIEM alerts are monitored and resolved in a timely manner
- Maintenance and evolution of Identity management (i.e., Active Directory, InTune, etc.)
- Work with various teams (application, infrastructure, identity management, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve alerts
- Assist in deployment of standard firewall rules to meet technical or business requirements
- Assist with day-to-day support of network security systems
- Implement appropriate changes, updates, and upgrades in response to vulnerabilities and incursions
- Support the Security & IT Team ensuring that processes around network security are managed well and responded to in a timely manner
- Follow run books for deployments and/or system upgrades during and off-hours
- Participate in metrics collections to demonstrate situational awareness to management regarding current threats and risks
- Assist in the gathering evidence for audit requirements
- Assist in preparing management reports
- Assist with Threat Vulnerability Management by actively participating in RCSAs and other risk assessments

Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- At least 3rd year student seeking a STEM degree
- Experience with Mac-based desktop environment
- Technical training
