Research Assistantship in Academic Affairs

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Works with the Director of Assessment and Accreditation and the Director of Curriculum Management to provide faculty and staff training on the use of our assessment software platform, build documentation on the use of the tool, provide administrative and organizational support around the annual assessment process, assist with proofing the academic catalogs, and other duties as assigned. This position will work remotely but the candidate must reside in the state of Minnesota for the duration of the appointment. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Proficient level of technical skills, e.g. MS Office 365, Desire2Learn, video/audio recording and posting to the web.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Computer and internet connection required.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in the field of Education, Technical Communication, or Psychology.
  • Editing experience.
  • Availability to continue assistantship into 2025-2026 academic year (contingent upon job performance & funding).
  • Experience with screen and lecture capture, video meetings, collaboration software and other online teaching resources.
  • Strong professional communication, work skills, organization and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.  

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment and assignment.  Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.  

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Graduate assistants are required to enroll for a minimum of six credits per semester at the graduate level.  GAs that are hired with a summer appointment must be enrolled for at least one graduate credit.   The initial appointment will be made from the pool of applicants available. If a vacancy occurs during the academic year, all applications, including those in the original pool and those received after the initial review date, will be considered. All applications in the pool become inactive on July 1, 2025. Contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding, there is a possibility that this appointment may be continued beyond the initial period of employment.
