EH&S Co-Op for EH&S Lead

Scope: Provide support to the EHS Lead. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or Environmental regulations is preferred, but not required
  • Other students accepted who are interested in learning about Environmental, Health and Safety Management 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible in day-to-day activities

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Ensure compliance of plant programs, policies, and procedures with respect to Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and Corporate policies and procedures
  • Maintain all 14001/45001 standard documents, and other EHS-related documents 
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) systems, Contractor Database system, STP Compliance and other databases
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Conduct weekly safety walks of the labs
  • Maintain monthly EH&S metrics
  • Administration of audit findings 
  • Maintain EH&S-related matrices, such as the training matrix 
  • Facilitate relevant EH&S training, as assigned by the EH&S Lead, or their designee
  • Coordinate the site Carbon Neutral team, and maintain documentation of initiatives and projects
  • Assist in the developing and implementation of new programs and relevant training presentations
  • Administrative duties include setting workers up with relevant personal protective equipment, upload and maintenance of EH&S-related documents
  • Back-up for the EH&S Lead
  • Perform other duties as requested by the EHS Lead. 
  • Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures
  • Responsible for looking for new ways to improve safety, quality and productivity. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attend monthly EHS, ISO, 5S, and other related activities as assigned by the EH&S Lead
