Office of Technology Transfer Internship 

Job Summary:

Assist the Acting Director of Tech Transfer with management of intellectual property activity and information. Perform data entry for technology transfer disclosures of invention, prepare and docket patent activities, assist in legal documentation preparation and evaluation. 

Assist with marketing and patent landscaping for commercialization of technologies from faculty and student inventors. Assist with compliance pursuant to federal research requirements and sponsored research contracts. Create and file documentation and otherwise meet Federal and State requirements as appropriate to ensure compliance. 

Prepare correspondence to constituents including faculty, students, university administrators, licensees, and government agencies. Assist in the development of marketing materials for internal and external stakeholders. 

Experience in handling multiple tasks and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement to handle confidential matters. Computer skills to include database and information systems management, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to be an effective liaison with a wide variety of people, including faculty, industry representatives and legal counsel. 

 

Students who are interested in learning about Technology Transfer, licensing of University IP, and those pursuing fields of study such as law, political science, and marketing, are encouraged to apply.  An understanding of the patent process and working knowledge of U.S. patent laws, USPTO rules, rules of practice under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, U.S. and international tax laws will be a key outcome of this internship.
