Environmental Conservation Graduate Internship - Yosemite National Park

About the Internship: 

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful energy and water conservation projects in a breathtaking natural setting. As an intern, you will collaborate with our energy manager and various teams to drive sustainability initiatives and make a difference in Yosemite. While the position is remote, regular site visits will be required to support projects and programs, providing you with hands-on experience in the field.

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25.00 to $30.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support data collection and monitoring efforts, including utility consumption, through ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, EnergyCAP, and similar monitoring systems.
  • Partner with the energy manager and data management team to help identify energy conservation measures and opportunities.
  • Support the design, installation, and overall project management of electrical and water submeters across the YH properties in the park.
  • Drive conservation practices through education initiatives targeted at both YH staff and guests.
  • Collaborate with the energy manager to support a variety of energy efficiency projects, including infrastructure and mechanical equipment improvements.
  • Gain experience in project management, vendor management, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Contribute to the BAS control logic design and Sequence of Operations.
  • Support green energy projects, including decarbonization and electrification efforts.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree or possessing equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to collect and analyze data accurately.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement energy and water conservation measures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate and engage both staff and guests.
  • Ambitious and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with utility consumption monitoring systems, such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and EnergyCAP, is a plus.
  • Understanding of electrical and water submetering is preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is an asset.
  • Passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.
  • Ability to make 2-4 site visits during the internship to Yosemite National Park, CA.
  • Ability to work December 2024 - April 2025
