A Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education special education day program. Serving students with diagnoses of serious emotional disturbance (SED) and intellectual developmental disability (IDD), with a specific emphasis on cultural responsiveness.
LOCATION
Main office in Randolph and Braintree offsite offices in Massachusetts. Direct Care staff are designated to regions based on their program and must travel to patient homes, schools, and within the community.
JOB SUMMARY
The Center Youth Technicians are trained as Behavior Technicians according to the Department of Early Education and Care. Teachers play a key role in shaping a preschool's educational experience. Promoting a positive learning classroom environment for Students. This role involves tasks such as overseeing classroom activities and implementing a curriculum and lesson plan that focuses on child development, including educational and behavioral skills.
Their responsibilities include:
- Providing guidance and mentorship to students
- Classroom management: Overseeing classroom activities and managing classroom behavior
- Student performance: Assessing student performance
- Communication: Communicating daily with parents and the program director
- Collaboration: Collaborating with staff and parents
- Lesson plans: Writing lesson plans
- After-school tutoring: Providing after-school tutoring
They are responsible for implementing lesson plans for their classroom and behavioral interventions programs as directed by Lead Teacher and Master Level Clinician Supervisor. Behavioral intervention services help youth deal with diagnosis (DSM 5) or Autism/Asperger's/PDD-NOS and other behavioral health diagnoses.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at minimum enrolled in an accredited associate or bachelor's degree program in Early Childhood Education, Education, Psychology, Public Health, or Social Work. Preferred or enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree accredited program with minimum 1+ years of recent experience. This position is a sole contributor to provide administrative support to operations in Massachusetts. Must have nine months of experience with school-age children including three months of supervised experience at a school-age child care program.
OR
Must have completed an additional nine credits in Early Childhood Education: Three credits in early childhood curriculum, program planning, or behavior management (required for preschool level) and/or three credits in infant-toddler care and education (required for infant-toddler level). The other credits may be in other early childhood education topics. Qualifies as a Lead teacher from the Department of Early Education and Care and have a degree and associate's in early childhood education, social work, or meet the following experiences and credentials.
Additional Requirements:
- Multidisciplinary assessments and provide individual and group treatment to children at kindergarten and pre-kindergarten age and their families
- Must have 1-year experience in providing service coordination and children's (ages 2 through 18) developmental play groups and team lead in classroom instruction for program
- Must have direct care experience with youth or children with disabilities
- Must have a current valid US-issued driver's license and ability to provide a registered and insured automobile for work-related purposes
- Bilingual a plus: Haitian Creole, Portuguese Creole, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Teacher in managing classroom activities via curriculum and lesson plan
- Teach basic skills like colors, shapes, numbers, and letters
- Create a stimulating and nurturing environment that encourages exploration and discovery
- Plan and carry out daily lesson plans that meet individual students' needs
- Monitor children for signs of emotional or developmental problems
- Communicate with parents about child's behavior and development
- Maintain classroom discipline when necessary
- Provide one-on-one attention when needed
- Organize classroom and plan intellectual activities
- Prepare snacks and assist with basic needs
- Evaluate children's social development and physical well-being
- Coordinate lesson plans and activities for experiential learning
- Complete progress notes and reports within 24 hours
- Verify attendance
- Maintain and implement activities for physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean and safe
- Schedule weekly and monthly programs
- Supervise children and establish routines

SALARY & BENEFITS
- $20 to $29 hourly, depending on experience and certifications
