Medical Assistant in Dermatology

Job Summary:
Ecker Dermatology is seeking outstanding Pre-Med and Pre-PA students planning to take 1-2 gap years before starting medical or PA school to join our team as Medical Assistants. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced clinical setting, performing both administrative and clinical tasks to support physicians and healthcare providers. Comprehensive training is provided on-site. Additionally, we offer mentorship and guidance throughout your professional school application process.
Salary is $21/hour for a full-time position, plus full benefits. Minimum commitment is 14 months.

Responsibilities:
- Accurately documents medical visits and procedures in real-time as directed by the provider.
- Responds to phone inquiries promptly and efficiently.
- Prepares patients for their healthcare visit by guiding them to the exam room and ensuring they are comfortable.
- Monitors, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam rooms to ensure readiness.
- Confirms patient information by conducting interviews, reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and verifying the purpose of the visit.
- Generates and processes orders as instructed by the provider.
- Complies with HIPAA and OSHA standards at all times.
- Accompanies the provider during patient exams, accurately transcribing the history, physical exam, and documenting the entire encounter.
- Maintains a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to established protocols and legal regulations.
- Records clinical data, lab results, and the provider’s interpretations into the medical record with precision.
- Reviews pathology reports with patients and addresses any follow-up questions.
- Serves as a liaison between physicians and support staff, addressing any issues or concerns as needed.
- Participates in surgeries, biopsies and other dermatologic procedures.
- Perform other duties when assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and verbal communication.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Highly detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with anatomy and medical terminology.
- Well-developed organizational skills with an emphasis on patient care tracking and optimizing patient flow.
- Excellent multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities.

- Capable of following both oral and written instructions.
Education and Experience:
- Prior experience in a medical setting is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field required.
