Semester/Year: 2025- 2026 Academic Year
Total Positions Available: 10-15 (8-10 Field House Monitor) (2-5 Intramural staff/ Marketing staff)
Supervisor: Jacob Lees
Pay rate: $15.00 per hour
Hours per Week: 6-8 (varies based on student’s availability and schedule; also varies based on working just Field House or also working in Intramurals and Marketing)

End Date: May 2026
Description
The Department of Recreation would not be able to successfully carry out its mission without student employees. The Front Desk & Fitness Center Monitors assist with facility operations and constituent health & safety. These positions are designed to create opportunities for student leadership and growth, in areas such as customer service, communication, professionalism, initiative, and conflict resolution.
Field House Monitor Responsibilities
- Oversees the health & safety of all department constituents by implementing & enforcing HWS Recreation’s policies and procedures and department emergency protocols.
- Consistently helps to create a friendly and welcoming environment for ALL persons utilizing Bristol Field House.
- Assists with cleanliness and organization of facility and equipment.
- Manages operations pertaining to front desk (i.e. equipment rental, processing memberships, answering phones, identifying & checking-in users, etc.).
- Manages operations pertaining to fitness center (i.e. cleaning fitness equipment, re-racking and organizing weights, and monitoring the safety of users within the space)
- Attending mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
- Assists with planning and preparation of department projects and events.
- Helps promote department’s programs and services Helps facilitate department’s program evaluations & assessments.
Intramural Staff Responsibilities
- Assists with implementing HWS Recreation’s Intramural Sports Program policies and procedures and department emergency protocols.
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
- Manages IM Leagues App to check-in players on game day and upload final scores & sportsmanship ratings.
- Responsible for setting up before events and cleaning up after events.
- Assists with the organization and cleanliness of intramural sports equipment inventory.
- Run scoreboard or officiate events based on knowledge and comfort level of sport being offered.
Marketing Staff Responsibilities
- Gather content for our various posts including but not limited to: Fun Fridays, Move-It Mondays, Life with Campus Rec
- Aid in getting Intramural footage for sports
- Take the lead on tabling for events such as the Involvement Expo and Admitted Student Days
- Create YouTube and other social media posts that educate students on how to utilize our various software’s/virtual platforms such as IMLeagues, Fusion, equipment etc.
- Take the lead on general advertising campaigns as determined by the professional staff. Could include campaigns that happen weekly, for the year, are a full month
- Generate new ways to connect with the HWS campus to engage them with any Campus Recreation social media accounts and software.
Qualifications
- Preferred previous experience or pertinent knowledge in the service industry.
- Availability to work a minimum of 6-10 hours per week (including weekends).
- Physically must able to lift objects weighing a maximum of 50lbs Excellent interpersonal, organization, & time management skills.
- A strong work ethic and leadership capabilities.
