The Cybersecurity department is seeking motivated individuals interested in working on a high-profile grant-funded project helping small businesses stay safe from attacks. You’ll be conducting virtual interviews with small businesses asking standardized questions regarding Hardware and infrastructure, Policies, Identity Access Management, Backups, and Training. You’ll be assessing their issues and recommending next steps. You’ll also be responding to help desk tickets submitted by small businesses, with resources and guidance. This is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students interested in Cybersecurity and IT.

 

Virtual Cybersecurity Support, under minimal supervision, duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting virtual interviews with small businesses asking standardized questions and taking detailed notes.
  • Entering notes into the Customer Relationship Management Software
  • Assessing client notes and generating recommendations for next steps including reference resources.
  • Performing diversified research duties of moderate complexity.
  • Performing a large number of distinctly different research functions involving several procedural steps.
  • Evaluating and analyzing research problems of average difficulty.
  • Adjusting known methods, techniques and procedures.
  • Performing evaluation and/or interpretation of data.
  • Entering or retrieving computer data or preparing computer related documentation.
  • Recommending methodological and procedural changes as needed.
  • Maintaining records, preparing graphs and tables, and assisting with report preparation.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or required.

 

This position will report to Dr. Stu Steiner, Project Director.

 

This position is grant funded. Due to the terms of this grant and federal law, individuals with citizenship in China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and the Maduro Regime are not eligible for this position.

 

This position will work up to 19 hours per week. If the student holds another campus job, the total hours worked between the jobs may not exceed 19 per week during the academic quarter. We will consider students who cannot work a full 19 hours per week.

Training for the position will begin in January 2025. Work will primarily be on-site at the Catalyst building, but students may have the opportunity to work remotely after 2 months.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Applicants must have successfully completed CSCD 303 or CYBR 303.

 

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

Applicants must be enrolled in at least 6 credits (undergraduate) or 4 credits (graduate).

 

Applicants must be familiar with the most current research in the subject.

 

Applicants must have strong customer service skills and be able to work with others at all levels, have a professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication skills and emotional intelligence.

 

Applicants must have a professional demeanor and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population via phone or in person.

 

Applicants must be detail oriented and able to enter data and prepare graphs, tables, and complex reports with accuracy. 

 

Applicants must be able to work with others at all levels, have a professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and emotional intelligence.

Applicants must be able to manage conflict, collaborate and work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
