Social Media Intern

School of Health Sciences (SHS) Social Media Intern 

The School of Health Sciences (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and creative student intern who is studying Communication or any related field to help assist with our social media platforms. Our goal is to empower our students during their academic pursuits and journey towards a Bachelor of Science in one of the SHS degree programs. We are looking for an intern to help SHS accumulate student followers to keep them up to date on important events, showcase success of SHS individuals, and resources available.
 

Eligibility: This is an un-paid and part-time position. Preferably, candidate(s) are majoring and/or minoring in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations. Must be available to post between 8:00am to 5:00pm on the weekdays with occasional evening and weekend hours. Should maintain a positive attitude under pressure, exhibit a strong work ethic with a wide range of personalities. Must be flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks. 

 

Job Skills:

- Strong written communication skills

- Interest in marketing, communications, and/or social media

- Detail oriented

- Proactive and creative

- Ability to work independently

- Familiar with mainstream social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Canva
 

Job Duties:

- Assist social media platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram 

- Update social media accounts

- Ensure uniform content and tone of voice for landing pages, graphics and other elements

- Post updates, news and announcements in a timely matter

- Monitor and engage by replying to followers

- Monitor platform statistics 

- Organize and maintain digital media 

- Take pictures/videos of events 

- Schedule and coordinate monthly/weekly/daily postings

- Develop/create fliers 

- Complete other social media projects as assigned

- Attend weekly team meetings throughout the semester

- Review online InHealth magazine stories for AP accuracy and grammar (as needed)
