Engineering Intern

If you are a Mechanical Engineering Student looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Cudahy Wisconsin location, you will be exposed to training on gas and refrigeration compressor products, solutions, and systems and how to utilize selection software and quoting tools. Learn how to prepare estimates, recommendations, design modifications, exceptions to customer specifications, and other pertinent data required to satisfy customer requirements. Learn how to design basic gas compression and refrigeration systems and prepare quotations at the most competitive level while meeting company profitability and quality standards and customer delivery requirements. Obtain and analyze application engineering data to adapt company solutions to customer requirements. Act as a technical resource to customers and the Sales team, helping to problem-solve any challenges.

 

AS A INSIDE SALES ENGINEER INTERN, YOU WILL: 

  • Evaluate inquiries and specifications to create formal proposals for the Sales and Application Engineering teams
  • Prepare cost estimates, recommendations, design modifications, and other pertinent data to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Professionally communicate with customers directly via phone, email or onsite visitation
  • Address any technical questions on the product or refrigeration systems
  • Direct the customer to the correct department to address their needs
  • Respond to customer requests in a prompt and complete manner
  • Follow up with customers to be sure they received the required support
  • Identify “buyout” items (i.e., purchased from 3rd parties) needed to meet customer specifications and functional requirements.
  • Develop proficiency in utilizing Vilter and supplier product selection software, CPQ, Autodesk Vault, and SalesForce.
  • Identify “buyout” items (i.e., purchased from 3rd parties) needed to meet customer specifications and functional requirements.
  • Prepare the order-related documents, "Order Packet," by checking all costing and technical details, such as performance ratings and equipment selections, for accuracy.
  • Develop proficiency in utilizing Vilter and supplier product selection software, Prosuite, Autodesk Vault and Vilter Data Archive.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office (word, excel, powerpoint, outlook, teams)
  • Design and estimate basic refrigeration systems.
  • Interact with operations, engineering, project management, procurement, etc.
  • Collaborate with Inside and Outside Sales teams.
  • Act as a technical resource to customers and outside sales team by addressing questions and assisting in resolving problems

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Sophomore or higher-class status preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and PC skills including Microsoft Office
  • Prior Co-op or Internship experience
