Start Your Career in Clean Transportation - Apply now for

the Spring 2025 Internship Cohort! (January 13, 2025 – April 25, 2025)

Are you looking for an entry-level professional experience that will shape your career trajectory and make a meaningful impact on the future of clean transportation in the United States? Accelerate, a workforce development initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is now accepting applications for our Spring 2025 internship cohort!

This is an opportunity to get involved with revolutionizing the way our nation thinks about and accesses clean transportation, and a chance to become involved with Clean Cities and Communities, where you'll have the opportunity to work side by side with inspiring mentors and network with a wide range of stakeholders who all have a common interest in building a more sustainable future.

Clean Cities and Communities is a U.S. Department of Energy partnership to advance clean transportation nationwide. More than 75 DOE-designated Clean Cities and Communities coalitions (intern’s host organization) work locally in urban, suburban, and rural communities to strengthen the nation’s environment, energy security, and economic prosperity. As partners with DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Office, coalitions work to deploy affordable, efficient, and clean transportation; energy-efficient mobility systems; and fuel-saving technologies and practices.

Whether you're an undergraduate or graduate student, or have recently graduated within the past year, this workforce development initiative will provide you with first-hand experience that will help you gain a better understanding of many roles, and build your professional portfolio with meaningful projects.

Here are more details about the internship:

  • All majors are welcome to apply.
  • You will play a vital role in expanding public awareness and advancing the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce petroleum consumption.
  • Depending on the initiatives of the coalition they’re working with, interns could get hands-on experience in event planning, communications or marketing, content creation, air quality research, community outreach, and more! Projects are wide-ranging and more detailed for each location can be found in the application.
  • Internships are available in many locations, with in person, hybrid, and remote work policies available, depending on the preference of each coalition.
  • Internships are offered for 15 or 20 hours per week over 14 weeks, providing a flexible schedule to accommodate your studies.
  • Accelerate offers stipends ranging from $3,150 to $6,048, depending on your academic level, location, and hours assigned by the coalition.
  • This internship will take place from approximately January 13, 2025 – April 25, 2025 and applications are due by 11:59pm PT on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
