SIP 2025 - East Student Activities & Marketing Intern (East Campus) at Tri-C Student Engagement

The Student Engagement department provides programs and activities that promote learning and development both outside and alongside classroom learning. Student Engagement oversees student leadership trainings and certifications, numerous student clubs and organizations, and special events and activities on campus.

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

Internship description

We are looking for a creative and energetic intern to assist in developing and implementing outreach and promotional content for the department website, college social media platforms, newsletters, advertisements, and slide show presentations that increase student awareness and participation in Student Engagement events and programming; as well as creating a welcoming environment in the Student Engagement office and other managed spaces; planning, hosting, and promoting Student Engagement events and activities in the Multicultural Center, food pantry, student lounge, and general campus programming.

The intern will work closely with the East Student Engagement team to understand program goals and objectives to arrange promotional campaigns and schedule coverage of department events and activities. The intern will also work closely with the department's marketing manager to coordinate the posting and assess the quality of content for the college website and social media platforms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and sharing engaging content, including text, images, and videos that promote Student Engagement events and activities
  • Capturing images/videos of participants and activities during events and programming
  • Coordinating with Student Engagement team on the development and collection of content for newsletters and reports
  • Working with the marketing manager to upload content to social media and website
  • Developing new and fun activities to promote the student lounge, food pantry, and Multicultural Center
  • Assisting students with utilizing the food pantry
  • Assisting students with locker rentals
  • Assisting in student lounge with sign-in, board game, video game, and arcade game rentals, and assisting students with general questions
  • Supporting department and student clubs and organizations with event planning, set up, and hosting 
  • Daily housekeeping of student lounge and food pantry
  • Assisting with stocking and organizing food pantry, supply rooms, and storage areas
  • Answering phones, greeting visitors, and general assistance in Student Engagement office
  • Participating in team huddles and trainings
  • Assisting Student Engagement team with daily projects as requested

Hardware Needed:

  • A high quality digital camera or mobile phone camera provided by student
  • A laptop computer to edit photographs, videos, graphics, and create slideshows for remote work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of demonstrated experience using excellent customer service
  • Sophomore Tri-C student or Tri-C student who has completed a minimum of two semesters
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; and ability to share ideas amongst diverse groups
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
  • Knowledge and experience working with digital camera/ high quality mobile camera
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop or comparable photo editing software
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong work ethic and initiative
  • Possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be creative, imaginative, and innovative
  • Demonstrate a friendly and positive attitude
  • Ability to provide one letter of recommendation from a college administrator, faculty, or staff member

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
