Office Overview:
The Institute for Engaged Learning (IEL) promotes and supports the equitable progression of undergraduates through pathways of connected curricular and co-curricular, applied, integrative, and experiential learning opportunities. These experiences prepare students for lives of commitment and success by developing skills to communicate, innovate, and engage in local and global communities to address 21st-century problems.
The IEL is composed of units and centers that collaborate to support faculty, staff, and students, including the First-Year Experience programs, the Center for Service and Learning, the Center for Research and Learning, the ePortfolio Initiative, and The Record of Experiential and Applied Learning.
The Institute seeks partnerships with other units offering engaged learning experiences in a campus-wide effort to ensure that all undergraduate students participate in at least four scaffolded, high-impact engaged learning experiences by the time they graduate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This role provides support for both the staff and faculty of the IEL.

50% Staff the Reception Desk
- Serve as the first point of contact for the IEL, providing friendly and knowledgeable assistance in-person, via email, and over the phone.

20% Contribute to projects that advance the programs and objectives of the Institute
- Assist with event preparation for Bridge Week, Research and Creative Activities Day (CRAD), Summer Symposium, and other IEL events.

20% Staff the IEL table during events
- Represent the IEL at events such as WOW (Weeks of Welcome), the Part-Time Job Fair, CRAD, Summer Symposium, and other opportunities as scheduled.

10% Perform other duties as requested
- Provide additional support in alignment with office goals, mission, and scope of work.
Tools and Equipment Used:
- Computers and basic office technology (printer, phone, etc.)
- Microsoft Teams and Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- IU Systems
- Canvas

Qualifications:
- Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at IU Indianapolis
- Willing to work a minimum of 7 hours per week (10 hours preferred) between 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Commitment to the Spring 2025 Semester, with the opportunity to continue through the Summer and the next academic year.
- Ability or willingness to learn Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and other software and systems utilized by the Institute.
- Ability to collaborate on projects, work in a team environment, and communicate effectively.
