Intern, Field Inspection Technician
JOB SUMMARY
Provides support to various regulatory compliance programs, including compliance and enforcement field investigations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in verification testing and basic electronic setup. Assist at on-site visits to install new equipment and obtain meter readings. Performs data entry with appropriate personnel and reports findings. Maintains accurate records of field investigation activities. Updates maps as a result of field investigations. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be currently enrolled as a student in a College or University with a minimum of 60 hours of college coursework and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Relevant college coursework in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Experience in field investigations, data collection and data entry. Knowledge of mechanical and electronic equipment operations. Ability to exercise a high degree of flexibility in scheduling activities. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and flexibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job performance may require: listing, seeing, sitting, talking, reaching, pulling or pushing; frequent lifting, balancing, carrying, grasping, handling of items and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional walking, standing, stooping, bending, and crawling in rough terrain requiring a high level of physical exertion; some irregular hours and long work days and moderate levels of stress. Job may consist of up to 50% work in an office environment and 50% work outside that includes exposure to extremes in weather rough terrain such as brush, rocks, and hills, and may also include exposure to hazards such as chemicals, insects, and snakes. Performance may also include work around construction sites, work along roadways, well drilling or other similar work sites.
