Accessories Project Engineering Intern

Slate is a new US company exploring development in the electric vehicle space.

Salary: $20-$25 per Hour

Who we are looking for:

  • Join us as a Project Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025 (May to August) and gain hands-on experience in automotive engineering.
  • Candidates should be able to commute to our Troy, MI location and work onsite up to 5 days per week.
  • Opportunity to work on innovative and exciting "add-on" vehicle components that enhance automotive design and functionality.

  • Collaborating on a wide range of projects with cross-functional teams
  • Support the creation of functional and technical specifications, working closely with project engineers to define criteria, design solutions, test prototypes, and manage accessory development.
  • Ensure successful project delivery across key performance metrics
  • Help meet critical targets related to cost, mass, materials, manufacturability, sustainability, and timing, while adapting to the fast-paced nature of a startup environment.

What you bring to the team:

  • Currently in 3rd or 4th year of bachelor degree program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and present ideas.
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to support product design and development.
  • Knowledge of material selection, attachment strategies, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship during the internship period
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for documentation, presentations, and communication.
