Crisis Clinician

Mental Health Support Services

Hiring Range: $72,954 - $98,487

Who We Are:
Our Crisis Team responds to individuals and families who are experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis. We are currently seeking a Certified Preadmission Screening Clinician to Respond to individuals and families experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis. Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Human Services field and a minimum of two years of experience; preferably in an emergency mental health setting; certified pre-admission screener preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s Degree in Social Work or Professional Counseling is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking experience is preferred.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques; proficient in a wide range of clinical orientations; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; thorough understanding of medical and psychiatric information relevant to diagnosis and risk assessment for seriously mentally ill, substance abusing consumers, and consumers in crisis; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; thorough understanding of Virginia statutes relating to mental health; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment. Working knowledge of Chesterfield Resources and Chesterfield CSB Emergency Services is preferred.
 
Additional Requirements
Professional licensure in Virginia (such as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) is required.

Schedule is 40 hours per week. This position requires working a variety of different shifts on a rotating basis. Shifts include days, evenings, overnights, and weekend work rotated across the team for coverage.

Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. 

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
 

Duties:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 • Providing primary crisis coverage by being able to quickly and independently evaluate a person in crisis for imminent danger or inability to care for oneself and to arrange necessary resources to manage individual.
 • Provide intake services by assessing the mental health needs of all consumers who call or walk in requesting services and either referring to community resources or dispositioning person for services.
 • Preadmission screenings for potential hospital admission.
 • Crisis counseling, providing information and referrals, and obtaining emergency custody orders, and temporary detention orders.
 • Interface with multiple behavioral health partners including families, first responders and hospital medical staff.
 • Works independently as well as in a team office setting.
 • Performs other work as required.
