College Internship Program

Information:

NVEEE's Content Writing and Copy Editing subcommittee, which is part of the broader Marketing and Communications Committee. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in writing, journalism, communications, or related fields. The intern will play a crucial role in creating compelling content for our website, ensuring the information is engaging, accurate, and aligns with our brand's voice and vision. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation and editing while contributing to an exciting online project.

Students seeking the option to receive course credit should inquire with their academic advisor. We will work with the student and college advisor on achieving desired learning outcomes and completing all necessary paperwork. Additionally, please note that this is an unpaid opportunity. 

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Content Creation and Development:

  • Write and edit engaging blog posts, newsletters, and materials to highlight NVEEE’s programs, values, and impact.
  • Craft compelling narratives for campaigns, events, and program spotlights, ensuring alignment with NVEEE's mission.

SEO Optimization and Research:

  • Research and apply search engine optimization techniques to improve content visibility.
  • Stay updated on writing trends and community needs to enhance NVEEE’s communication strategies.

Editorial and Proofreading Support:

  • Review and refine written materials for grammatical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to NVEEE’s brand voice.
  • Create FAQs, handbooks, and support documents for events and programs.

Testimonial and Storytelling Collection:

  • Work with program participants to collect and edit impactful stories that reflect NVEEE’s mission and successes.
  • Transform testimonials into engaging content for newsletters, websites, and social media.

Website and Outreach Content:

  • Update website copy to ensure accurate representation of NVEEE programs, values, and opportunities.
  • Draft press releases, email campaigns, and sponsor materials to engage stakeholders and foster partnerships.

Social Media and Collaborative Content Creation:

  • Provide written content for social media posts, working with the Social Media and Creative Services subcommittees.
  • Assist in crafting event-related content, such as scripts, program schedules, or participant guides.

 

Qualities needed to be successful on this committee:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Passionate about writing and creating engaging content.
