Biomedicine Research Intern

Possible Responsibilities:

As an intern , you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to our ongoing research initiatives and gain hands-on experience in the following areas:

Development of Biomaterials for Scaffolds:

Contribute to the design and fabrication of innovative biomaterials for scaffolds aimed at treating vascular pathologies.

Development of Bioabsorbable Biomimetic Adhesive Patches:

Participate in the development and testing of bioabsorbable biomimetic adhesive patches with potential applications in vascular surgery.

Interaction between Blood Vessels and the Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB):

Explore the complexities of the interaction between blood vessels and organs, with a focus on the blood-brain barrier and its implications for various medical conditions.

Development of Drug Delivery Systems:

Contribute to the design and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems, with a particular emphasis on addressing vascular diseases.

Solutions in the Medical Biotechnology Industry:

Engage in research related to medical and pharmaceutical accessories, contributing to advancements in the medical biotechnology sector.

Development of Materials to Treat Arteriosclerosis and Aneurysms:

Collaborate on projects aimed at developing materials with therapeutic potential for treating arteriosclerosis and aneurysms.

What We Offer:

A collaborative and intellectually stimulating research environment.

Mentorship from experienced researchers and professionals.

Opportunities to present your work and engage with a network of international partners.

Exposure to cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in vascular engineering and applied biomedicine.

Requirements:

Strong academic background in fields such as medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, or computing.

Demonstrated interest in vascular engineering and biomedicine.

If you are enthusiastic about contributing to groundbreaking research that has the potential to impact medical practices globally, we encourage you to apply. Detailed missions will be discussed during the interview with your supervisor.

About the Organization

The group develops its activity in two main areas: the development of biomaterials to treat vascular pathologies and the study of other clinical needs, integrating knowledge from medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computing. We mainly study vascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis or aneurysms. At the same time, it devotes its efforts to understanding the interaction between blood vessels and the organs they feed, as in the case of the blood-brain barrier. The main strategic objectives of the group are to establish a continuous dialogue between its researchers so that clinical needs can guide the elucidation of the fundamental mechanisms of vascular disease, to enable the findings of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the disease to be used to change medical practices, and, finally, to exchange researchers, technologies, and experience with the group’s network of international partners to ensure that the knowledge developed in Barcelona is applicable and implementable elsewhere.

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance.

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.

Housing and Excursions

Housing and excursions are included in your internship and will be selectable during the application process.
