Student Assistant- Environmental Planning Geographic Information Systems (GIS)- Oakland, CA (Hybrid)

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 4's Division of Environmental Planning & Engineering (EPE) is looking to bring on one (1) Student Assistant to support environmental planning and analysis activities. The Student Assistant will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities in line with the student's coursework and career goals. The Student Assistant will perform a wide variety of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) investigations, analyses, and create professional maps for inclusion into technical reports and public-facing environmental documents in support of the delivery of transportation projects in the nine-county Bay Area, in a learning capacity, under the direction of the Office Chief of the Office of Biological Sciences & Permits but support the entirety of EPE as needed. The Student Assistant will also learn about Caltrans' project development process and gain familiarity with numerous state and federal regulations and transportation funding and decision making.
