The Surgical Technologist Intern I works in the Sterile Processing Department. The Sterile Processing Department (SPD), also known as the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) or Central Sterilization (CS), is the area in a hospital where cleaning and sterilization of devices used in medical procedures takes place. Surgical Technologist Intern I clean, decontaminate, and package reusable surgical instrumentation following instrument manufacturer instructions for use (IFU), equipment manufacturer IFU, and department polices to ensure that instruments are safe to reuse. Customers include the operating room, hospital departments, and multiple clinics throughout the Aspirus system.
Eligibility
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At minimum, engaged in the first semester of a Surgical Technologist program.
- Previous experience in a health-related field with emphasis on supply, processing, decontamination, and sterilization desired, but not required.
- Possesses ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is flexible to change.
- Possesses above average recordkeeping skills and the ability to follow direction with special attention to details.
- Possesses ability to work closely with others in a team environment.
Hours: Flexible, occasional status; will work with student hours.
Pay Rate: $16.05/Hour
