Job Description

Under general supervision, the successful candidate will provide recruitment or human resources, along with deep knowledge of the screening, interviewing, and hiring processes to help fill DHS vacancies. The successful candidate will also partner with the recruiting team and senior managers to design, refine, and implement innovative recruitment strategies.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with hiring managers to thoroughly understand the agency’s staffing needs, ensuring alignment with competitive hiring goals and expectations.
- Ensures job descriptions for postings are current and accurate, updating or creating new descriptions as necessary to attract qualified candidates.
- Develops and implements effective recruitment strategies, tailored to the specific position, industry standards, and organizational needs.
- Posts job openings across internal and external job boards, social media, and other platforms to attract potential candidates.
- Coordinates with staffing agencies to fulfill temporary staffing needs or positions that may transition to full-time roles.
- Screens applicants to assess qualifications and refers suitable candidates to hiring managers within established timeframes.
- Supports interview panels as requested, providing assistance to hiring managers throughout the selection process.
- Regularly follows up with hiring managers to assess the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and ensures they are kept informed of progress.
- Provides guidance on recruitment best practices and offers recommendations for enhancing hiring strategies.
- Prepares weekly status reports on the progress of assigned requisitions and maintains an up-to-date record of active positions.
- Participates in career fairs and outreach events to attract a diverse candidate pool.
- Researches and recommends new sourcing methods to target both active and passive candidates.
- Utilizes various tools, such as job boards, job fairs, social media, and networking, to build and maintain a robust candidate pipeline.
- Implements sourcing strategies to ensure a qualified and diverse pool of candidates.
- Maintains regular communication with hiring managers regarding recruitment efforts, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Responds to inquiries related to HRPASS and other routine HR matters.
- Compiles and maintains a list of interview questions for specific positions to support the selection process.
- Cultivates relationships with colleges, universities, and professional organizations to attract and recruit a diverse range of candidates.
- Monitors compliance with legal requirements, DHS policies, and best practices, providing technical assistance as needed.
- Analyzes recruitment data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements in recruitment and retention.
- Stays informed about industry trends by engaging in professional development opportunities, reading industry publications, and participating in relevant networks and organizations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
