  TITLE:    Science Teacher - 8th Grade
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
                                   

  1. Valid Ohio certification/licensure
  2. Bachelor’s degree
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 
REPORTS TO:   Building Principal (Rosemore Middle School)
 
JOB GOAL:             
 
Committed to teaching students the subject matter and skills necessary for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.  Plan for and assess the learning experience of the students.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
                                   

  1. Responsible to organize student instruction and to manage the classroom in order for learning to occur.
  2. Maintain control at all times where the teacher is in charge of supervision.
  3. Responsible for establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with parents through various mediums.
  4. Responsible for writing clear and appropriate lesson plans, based on academic standards, which indicate the direction for instruction and implementation of the course of study
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter.
  6. Regularly assess student's progress and provide additional instruction as necessary.
  7. Responsible for providing clear, complete, and accurate explanations suitable to the level of learners.
  8. Present subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  9. Answer student questions clearly and completely.
  10. Give positive reinforcement for acceptable academic and social behavior.
  11. Implement behavior intervention strategies as needed in order to promote positive learning patterns.
  12. Work with other programs such as Special Needs, English Language Learning, Literacy, After School Programs, etc. in order to benefit the instruction of students in the classroom.
  13. Responsible for working collaboratively with grade level or teaching teams.
  14. Responsible to maintain accurate records as required by district.
  15. Responsible for appropriate dress.
  16. Arrive at school promptly and stay until regularly scheduled times have been met.
  17. Attend all scheduled meetings.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

 

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
  3. Excellent observation and communication skills
  4. Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
  5. Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
  6. Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
                                   
Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.
 
EVALUATION: 
 
Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s    policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
