Job Description
- Follow company procedures to operate professional 16mm and 35mm motion picture film scanning equipment including related monitoring and quality control hardware.
- Experience handling motion picture film equipment is a plus but not required.
- We will train you in ALL aspects of what you'll need for this position, but you should have familiarity with concepts surrounding film resolutions, digital video formats and codecs, data management, media signal flow, and an enthusiasm to learn and retain training on these topics.
- Once trained, you must recognize technical issues as they arise, and either resolve or refer issues to higher levels.
Responsibilities
- Follow company protocols to operate professional motion picture film scanning equipment.
- Take direction from supervisors regarding daily priorities.
- Meet daily goals as your work product directly feeds our post-production teams.
- Be trained on and perform continuous, routine quality checks and report technical issues to supervisor.
- Use shared workflow documents allowing all team members to view the status of client projects within our facilities. Update your progress throughout the day to allow subsequent workers to know when to expect your work product.
- Switch between primary and supporting roles in the operation of this equipment.
- Be kind and supportive to fellow employees whose job may involve delivering your media materials, retrieving your work product, or following up on job status.
- Learn how to recognize a variety of quality issues that may be signs of sub-standard work product.
- Must be capable of producing error-free work or identifying what errors exist in your work product, prior to its delivery to our end client.
- Remain open to process improvement, as all your work comes from co-workers and feeds other co-workers.
- Following an initial orientation period, work toward achieving daily and weekly throughput goals to meet customer expectations.
- Accept coaching and direction from supervisors to improve performance.
- Work under direct supervision and follow standard procedures and written instruction to accomplish assigned tasks without errors.
- Collaborate in a supportive, team environment emphasizing learning new skills and receiving constructive input from supervisors.
- Recognize your role as part of a larger workflow supplying other team members with work product that ultimately creates finished, error-free client deliverables.
Education and Experience Requirements
We are willing to train qualified candidates in the operational skills required to perform the duties described above. Your willingness to openly receive and execute precise instructions in a collaborative manner to produce error-free work is paramount to your success in this position.
You must come equipped with either the technical familiarity or enthusiasm to learn operation of motion picture film handling, repair, care, digitization, and media management.
Experience with MS Office applications: Excel, Word, and Outlook is a plus.
Experience with Spreadsheets, Google Docs and Google Sheets is a plus.
Must be willing to have your performance monitored daily for throughput and accuracy.
Must be willing to accept constructive input to improve your performance and accuracy as needed.
Technical and/or operational knowledge of motion picture film, digital video formats, and high-speed network data flow is not required.
Basic math skills including addition and subtraction of minutes and seconds is required.
NOTE: A pre-employment Basic Math Test will be administered.

Compensation
- Hourly wage totaling $30,035.20 per year, based on working 40 hours per week
- Bi-weekly payroll
- Overtime opportunities at time-and-a-half rate when offered
- Six (6) paid Holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
- After 90 days: Optional health and vision insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
- After 90 days: 24 hours paid time-off
- Hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5:30pm with ½ hour lunch break.
- All work is performed onsite in our Southfield, Michigan studio building.
Skills & Abilities Required
- Ability to receive and retain instruction and training in the operation of our professional motion picture film scanning systems
- Ability to learn how to operate and handle motion picture film scanning equipment with care.
- Ability to use our monitoring systems to recognize quality issues requiring adjustment or escalation to senior engineering staff.
- Ability to understand written instructions and daily assignments
- Willingness to accept specific, detailed instruction in support of company's unique workflow
- Superior attention to detail, accuracy, and time efficiency when performing tasks
- Integrity in applying honesty and discretion when handling business information
- Dependable and adaptable to our fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Willingness to perform the repetitive manual tasks required during operation of 16 mm and 35 mm motion picture film scanning equipment, including associated data entry to track film and video media elements
- Tendency toward structure, process, and organization in the workplace
- Must exhibit punctuality and reliable attendance
- Must speak and write fluent English; legible handwriting and printing is a plus
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within a team as directed
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and arms to reach
- Regularly required to speak clearly, hear, and use close-vision abilities
- May be required to safely lift or move up to 50lbs of media assets and equipment
- Must restrict cell phone usage while in the workplace
- Will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement prohibiting social media posts regarding our clients' projects and media.
