POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
As an intern within the Research Group of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, you will be immersed in a dynamic and collaborative research environment that spans various disciplines within the pharmaceutical and health sciences. Your missions will be discussed in detail during your interview with your supervisor. You will find possible responsibilities below :
Literature Review:
Conduct comprehensive literature reviews related to tyrosine-kinase inhibitors, chemokine receptor inhibitors, and compounds targeting myotonic dystrophy.
Summarize relevant research findings and identify gaps in the current knowledge.
Laboratory Assistance:
Assist in experimental design and execution under the guidance of senior researchers.
Contribute to the synthesis and characterization of pharmaceutical compounds.
Participate in laboratory techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and cell culture.
Data Analysis:
Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data using relevant software and tools.
Collaborate with team members to interpret results and draw meaningful conclusions.
Project Support:
Contribute to ongoing research projects related to drug development and formulation.
Attend research group meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and potential solutions.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks documenting experimental procedures, observations, and results.
Assist in the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with researchers from different structural units to gain exposure to diverse aspects of pharmaceutical research.
Participate in interdisciplinary discussions to integrate knowledge from various fields.
Professional Development:

Participate in safety training sessions as required.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge research center focused on addressing critical challenges in drug development. The intern will work closely with experienced researchers and contribute to advancing scientific knowledge in the pursuit of innovative pharmaceutical solutions.
About the Organization
The Group of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is an inter-departmental research group resulting from the synergy of teaching and research staff of seven structural units of the of the Ramon Llull University (URL). The structure and the different experts cover virtually all stages of the development of a drug and, in this sense, are a singularity in the Catalan scientific landscape. The research focuses on research in pharmaceutical chemistry (new drugs), pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulation, applied biology and API production in the areas of Biomedicine and Health Sciences. The search for new drugs focuses on: - Tyrosine-kinase inhibitors with application in cancer (lung, breast and pancreas) - Compounds with activity in the presence of chemokine receptors (CXCR4 inhibitors) - Compounds that are active in myotonic dystrophy
On-site Supervision and Support
Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance.
Academic Credit
Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
Housing and Excursions
Housing and excursions are included in your internship and will be selectable during the application process.
