Field Trial Research Intern

G2 Ag Research is an independent contract research company that conducts field trials in Eastern Idaho. We specialize in studies to support EPA pesticide registration, crop protection and efficacy, biotech traits, and variety selection trials. Crops include potatoes, wheat, barley, canola, alfalfa, field corn, sugar beets, peas, and dry beans.   

 

G2 Ag Research is seeking 1-2 Field Trial Research Interns to participate in an internship designed to give broad based exposure on the day-to-day activities of a field trial research program. The position will be located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Roles and responsibilities include: 

 

  • Implement trial designs as stated in the study protocol and assist in trial layout.  
  • Assist with planting of the trials.
  • Perform various agronomic assessments including emergence dates, stand counts, plant heights, root measurements, key growth stages, etc. 
  • Assist in sampling which includes soil, forage, hay, root, and tuber samples.
  • Assist in various insect and plant disease assessments.  
  • Perform general trial maintenance applications (irrigation, fertilizer, tillage).
  • Assist in harvest and perform quality assessments on the collected samples.
  • Data entry in excel or other data management software.
  • Compensation will range from $15 - $20 per hour depending on experience.
  • If needed, housing assistance can be arranged.  

 

In addition, to further enhance their experience, each intern will conduct a small research project focused toward an area of interest. 

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of sophomore standing at an accredited university. 
  • Education focus in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, Biology, Soil Science, Entomology or a related field.
  • Agricultural background beneficial.
  • Motivated, ready to learn, respectful, willing to work hard, and have fun.
