Undergraduate Research Assistant
The Imanishi lab is looking for a part-time undergraduate student worker to help with basic laboratory experiments and maintenance tasks such as making buffers and solutions, washing dishware, sterilizing lab equipment via autoclave, and other basic research-related tasks. The student should be interested in science and willing to learn new techniques. Our lab uses cutting-edge technology to study the cell biology and neurobiology of retina and we can share our knowledge and experience to get you more involved in science.
Knowledge, Skills, Attributes:
- Willing to learn new things
- Willing to work on animals including Xenopus laevis and mouse
- Interested in biological sciences
- Willing to work more than 8 - 10 hours a week
- Responsible and timely
- Previous lab experience is welcome but not necessary
Learning Outcomes:
In accordance with the IUI Profiles of Learning for Undergraduate Success, experience in this position will help students become acquainted with the following profiles
- Problem Solver: how to operate and maintain state of the art laboratory instruments. expand on and apply basic laboratory skills required for biomedical research in a variety of settings.
- Communicator: how to effectively communicate with professionals in the field of science.
