Tech Ed Teacher - Otsego Middle School

TITLE OF POSITION: Tech Ed Teacher - Otsego Middle School

STARTING DATE: Immediately

CLOSING DATE: Until Filled

Otsego Public Schools’ staff is the heart of the district, and we are looking to add a Tech Ed teacher to our middle school staff. Tech Ed Teachers provide instruction and guidance to help students explore and understand important concepts in engineering, manufacturing, and technology, including modeling, designing, measuring and sketching. 

Primary tasks (non-exhaustive list):

  • Plan lessons and prepare class materials and homework assignments to meet class objectives.
  • Gather the appropriate materials and equipment to address the goals and objectives. 
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and resources consistent with parameters of the educational environment and the needs and limitations of the students involved.

Requirements:

  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, Secondary with Industrial Technology (IX/TX/TE) Endorsement
  • Some teaching experience strongly preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION 

TITLE: TECH ED TEACHER

CONTRACT: 10 Month Employee

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

LOCATION/DEPARTMENT: Otsego Middle School

POSITION SUMMARY: All employees of the Otsego Public Schools, including Tech Ed Teachers, are expected to display a positive, caring, nurturing attitude and a genuine desire to assist all students and staff when necessary to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

Tech Ed Teachers provide instruction and guidance to help students explore and understand important concepts in engineering, manufacturing, and technology, including modeling, designing, measuring and sketching. 

RECOMMENDED EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION: Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, Secondary with Industrial Technology (IX/TX/TE) Endorsement

EXPERIENCE: Some teaching experience strongly preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan lessons and prepare class materials and homework assignments to meet class objectives.
  • Gather the appropriate materials and equipment to address the goals and objectives. 
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and district-adopted curriculum consistent with parameters of the educational environment and the needs and limitations of the students involved.
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers. Assess and document the students’ growth and provide progress reports as required.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Identify and utilize available district and community resources for educational purposes when appropriate.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with parents, administrators, peers and the community. 
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

From time to time, in emergency situations, it becomes necessary for all adults, including Tech Ed Teachers, to assist in supervising groups of students and attending to the physical needs of students.

REQUIRED: Capturing Kids Hearts training to be completed within the first two years of employment 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month, regular position  within Otsego Education Association.
