Human Resources Intern

Reports To: HR Department Chair

Purpose of the Role:
The HR Intern at Unity Bands will provide critical support within the HR department, offering hands-on experience in human resources practices within a non-profit setting. This position enables the intern to contribute directly to Unity Bands' mission to support healthcare workers while building HR skills through involvement in recruitment, onboarding, training, and organizational planning. Under the guidance of the HR Department Chair, the intern will assist with HR projects, conduct research, and provide administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Project Support:

  • Assist with HR-specific projects, such as creating volunteer position descriptions, supporting recruitment efforts, and developing orientation materials.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of HR programs by providing research, insights, and administrative support.
  • Aid in organizing and preparing materials for HR meetings, and onboarding events.

Research & Data Collection (If Applicable):

  • Conduct research to support HR initiatives, including data on volunteer engagement, recruitment trends, and employee retention.
  • Assist in gathering data through surveys, interviews, or public research and compile findings for reporting to HR leadership.

Administrative Assistance:

  • Support scheduling, documentation, and record-keeping tasks, helping to maintain up-to-date volunteer records, position descriptions, and training materials.
  • Update team rosters, track volunteer participation, and manage project timelines in coordination with the HR team.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Actively participate in team meetings, providing input and feedback on HR strategies and organizational improvements.

Professional Development:

  • Attend HR-focused meetings, training sessions, and other learning opportunities to develop skills in human resources management, communication, and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing/obtained a degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Interest in supporting HR functions or gaining HR experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is preferred.

Time Commitment:
