Summer Intern Assignment
The intern program at Salem Five Bank is a paid summer internship. Internships are open to college students completing their sophomore or junior years. This is a five day per week assignment, (M-F) 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (2025 program dates are Tuesday, May 27, 2025 through Friday, August 8, 2025.)
During the assignment, the intern will have the opportunity to work with members of the Digital Delivery and Support Teams to gain a working knowledge of department roles and responsibilities, business routines, processes, and the overall scope of customer facing digital banking solutions managed by a centralized shared services team within a community bank organization. You will also be exposed to a wide range of internal departments that Digital Delivery and Support work with to plan, manage and execute their goals and objectives. Throughout the internship, the intern will participate in Salem Five meetings and events and contribute to specific projects in progress.
The intern will join the team after completing an Intern Orientation on their first day.
Day 1
The intern will meet with a representative from Human Resources for orientation to the company. The intern will then meet with Rob Ames, SVP Digital Delivery & Support Leader and Nicole Costa, VP Digital Commerce Manager, who will provide an overview of the department and provide the intern with their Week 1 schedule. The intern will report to Nicole Costa throughout the internship program. A lunch will be scheduled and introductions to other team members will be made over the course of the first week to learn about each member’s role and responsibilities within the department.
Duration of Program
The intern will be involved with several initiatives over the duration of the program. The intern will function similarly to an entry-level employee, supporting the team as needed throughout the assignment. (Examples may include the following):
Daily Work: A broad range of activities including digital banking product analytics, data analytics and project related assignments. He/She will also participate in a wide variety of business meetings on a regular basis. We will provide exposure to both longer-term initiatives as well as day-to-day deliverables.
Projects/Assignments: The intern will be exposed to Digital Banking initiatives that involve enhancing and managing Salem Five’s online account opening platform, online/mobile banking solutions, ePayment tools and related customer support functions. Examples include:
- Assisting with new releases of online account opening feature/functionality, online/mobile banking upgrades which involve hands-on testing
- Exposure to digital banking product management metrics and reporting including the ability to assist with analysis as requested
- Identifying user experience enhancements for digital products
- Creation of UI/UX workflow documentation
- Collect and document digital banking industry trends for analysis
- Complete competitor bank analysis assignment
- Participate in project meetings and complete assigned project related tasks
- Review advanced digital banking problem resolution use cases and provide feedback
- Review digital banking website and provide feedback and assessment

Weeks 2-4: Consumer Digital Banking
Weeks 5-6: Corporate and Small Business Digital Banking
Week 7-8: Digital Banking Support Teams
Week 9: Industry/Competitive Digital Banking Analysis
Week 10: Digital Banking Website Assessment
Week 11: Wrap up presentations/assigned work
