Orchard and Land Management Interns will
- Receive training and experience in conservation, resource management and orchard management.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management techniques to help produce 14 different varieties of apples; monitoring insect traps, identifying pest problems and solutions
- Receive hands-on experience with current land conservation practices including invasive species removal and garden management.
- Assist with all aspects of managing the orchard as directed by Orchard staff including pruning trees and picking apples as seasonally appropriate.
- Provide design input for plantings, programs, and special events
Qualifications
- A desire to pursue a career in Horticulture or Land Management
- General knowledge of Minnesota growing seasons
- An ability to work well independently and with staff and volunteers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Hiring preference is given to junior or senior students who are pursuing a degree in a related field.

Benefits include professional training and regular evaluations, hands-on work experience in apple production, academic credit (optional), on-site housing (optional) and a $200 weekly reimbursement for each full time intern.
