TN055 - CAD Operator
Job Description:
At TOR Engineering, we are in search of a detailed-oriented CAD Operator to enhance our Electrical Distribution Department. This role is open to Electrical – Civil Drafters as well as those with some drafting experience. Our dynamic team is comprised of Electrical Engineers, Project Managers, and seasoned Civil Designers/Drafters who have effortlessly transitioned into the Electrical trade.
We’re seeking an individual with a minimum of one year of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation expertise, preferably with Civil drafting or electrical utility design/drafting. The ideal candidate will possess an acute attention to detail, an eagerness to learn, and exhibit a strong work ethic coupled with a team-player mentality.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide CAD support to Designers, aiding in the design of electrical utility infrastructures such as primary and secondary circuits. Projects may include residential subdivisions, apartment complexes, commercial buildings, cell sites and/or electrical system upgrades for utilities and commercial clients.
• CAD services may incorporate elements like base map creation, street and freeway crossings for profiles, development of primary IDs, plot plans, electrical equipment details, conduit/schematic diagrams, section views, bill of material, cable tag lists and more.
• Assist Designers as necessary throughout the project development and submittal process.
• Interpret conventional engineering design markups made during the redline process.
• Translate verbal descriptions, cut & paste segments, and references to past projects into suitable design implementations.
• Project site visits to verify existing field conditions and equipment to be required occasionally.
General Requirements:
• Completion of Computer Aided Drafting classes at High School, College, or Technical School.
• Must be self-driven, able to effectively communicate and collaborate with the design team to ensure the success of the entire project.
• Must be highly detail-oriented and eager to learn.
• One-year of AutoCAD or MicroStation training or experience.
Preferred Requirements:
• Experience in electrical utility design drafting or civil layout/design drafting support is desirable.
• Automated Utility Design (AUD) experience.
• Familiarity with Right of Way, Property Easements, underground utilities (water, sewer, communications, gas, etc.)
