Mechanical Engineering Intern

We are seeking summer interns pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering to join our team.
In this role, you will be working closely with the Giffin Design/Mechanical/Electrical engineering teams, assisting in the technical engineering aspect of the Paint Finishing projects.
Typical Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering support to the lead engineer.
• Assist with maintaining project records related to engineering and design issues.
• Perform engineering calculations.
• Coordinate engineering issues with the subcontractors, customers, field, layout/manufacturing, purchasing and equipment suppliers.
• Review the project design with the Project Engineer to assure compliance with the customer specifications, codes, insurance practices, good engineering practices, and Giffin engineering/shop standards.
• Assist with conducting field checks/conditions.
• Review AutoCAD drawings.
• Maintain ISO/QOS company documentation requirements
Requirements:
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Ability to work minimum 40 hours a week
• Completed, at minimum, Sophomore year
• Interest in Manufacturing, Construction
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements:
Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be willing to do some travel to project sites.
Must be able to conduct vendor visits and project site visits including the use of PPE and ability to tour facilities which may include multi-floor levels.
Must be physically able to walk long distances and traverse construction ground conditions
