Social Capital Inc. Community Engagement Coordinator (an SCI AmeriCorps Member Service Fellow Position)

SCI AmeriCorps Fellowship Position 2024-2025

Community Engagement Fellow

The SCI AmeriCorps program strengthens communities across Greater Boston through AmeriCorps service members (Fellows) who support & uplift youth enrichment opportunities at local nonprofits. SCI AmeriCorps Fellows gain professional nonprofit experience as well as: leadership training program through SCI, access to college / graduate credit through an exclusive partnership with Merrimack College, and earn federal dollars towards higher education. SCI AmeriCorps is an AmeriCorps national service program and receives fiscal, in-kind, and technical support from the Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA). 

 

SCI AmeriCorps is seeking candidates to fill positions for a 900-hour service term (approximately 40 hours/week) from January 2025 through June / July 2025. 
 

Fellow Stipend Benefit Options (I or II)

  1. Receive a Taxable Stipend of $2,500 / month, paid bi-weekly (max stipend value = $25,000 per year).
  2. Receive a Taxable Stipend of $1,600 / month, paid bi-weekly, with Housing Placement & Homestay Benefit [$900 / month] provided by StudentRoomStay (max stipend value = $25,000 year).

  • Earn a Federal Education Award worth up to $7,395 upon successful completion of service
  • May receive Student Loan Forbearance during active service
  • Full Healthcare (medical, dental) provided by SCI AmeriCorps
  • $90 / month Transportation Stipend during your service term provided by SCI AmeriCorps
  • SCI Developing Leaders Program – receive badges of completion for 50+ hours of comprehensive career development in partnership with Merrimack College
  • Access to Merrimack College campus resources via Merrimack Student ID
  • Free Enrollment in a Community Engagement course taught by Merrimack College faculty with the option to receive undergraduate or graduate academic credit

At Social Capital, Inc., the SCI AmeriCorps Fellow core service activities will be:

  • Assist in the coordination of 2025 Youth Grant Pitch Contest volunteer coaches, Pitch Event volunteers and youth teams between January-April 2025. Requires communication through email, phone, text, in-person and virtual interactions. 
  • Manage communications and engagement with 2025 YGPC teams during Spring / Summer 2025  to support impact data collection efforts and promote, attend and gather media content for YGPC-funded projects.
  • Support marketing & promotion of the YGPC through digital and social media content creation and platform management. Opportunity to learn / grow skills in professional media through partnership with Woburn Public Media Center. 
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm, occasional evening / weekend availability needed for community events (weekday hours will flex). 
     

SCI AmeriCorps Fellow - Essential Requirements

  • Commit to full term-of-service in local communities with diverse residents 
  • Serve in-person for some or all service activities
  • Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations, trainings, surveys and evaluations
  • Complete a Social Capital Youth Project for host site partner youth enrichment programming
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of enrollment
