Golf Tournament Operations Internship - 3-Month
This position is an approximately 3-month long internship that provides exposure to all aspects of golf administration. The primary focus of this position will be to assist the TGA Competitions staff in the administration and operation of TGA championships as well as TGA and USGA qualifying rounds. This position is based at Golf House Tennessee in Franklin, approximately 25 miles south of Nashville, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Tournament administration which includes course marking, course set-up, tournament signage assembly and placement, creating starting times and pairings, starting players, scoring players, on-course rules officiating, volunteer coordination, pace of play monitoring, and preliminary office preparations for TGA and USGA events.
- This is a fully traveling internship with very little time spent at the TGA office.
- Leadership projects at tournaments throughout the internship, including acting as the Official-in-Charge at tournament (with staff oversight).
- Introduction to other TGA departments including Handicapping and Course Rating.
- The work week consists of 40-60 hours, depending on tournament assignments.
- Reports directly to the Internship Coordinator.
Job Requirements
- Ability to live in Franklin, Tennessee or the Greater Nashville Area.
- Strong work ethic, communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel across the state of Tennessee for extended periods of time in extreme weather and temperatures, work early mornings and weekends.
- Golf background or strong interest in golf and basic knowledge of the Rules of Golf is a plus.
- Have your own transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and manage equipment up to 50 pounds.
