Laboratory Engineer
Job Title: Laboratory Engineer - Target Production Group
Location: University of Rochester, Laboratory for Laser Energetics
Position Summary:
The Target Production Group at the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Engineer. In this technical role, you will coordinate the production of millimeter-sized assemblies for cutting-edge experiments on the OMEGA and OMEGA EP laser systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with scientific staff to assess design feasibility and establish characterization requirements.
- Liaise with primary and third-party vendors to procure necessary components.
- Manage multiple experimental campaigns simultaneously to meet tight deadlines.
- Maintain and enhance documentation systems for accuracy, efficiency, and quality control.
- Assemble components and conduct measurements to ensure final products meet specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or related discipline.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite and the ability to present findings effectively to a small internal audience.
- Excellent time management skills to juggle multiple experiments at various development stages.
- Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
