Tour Guide
Position Type: Federal Work Study or Non-Work Study
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Share your Detroit Mercy story while showing future students around campus.
- Assist with tasks around the office as needed.
- Outgoing and energetic individuals who enjoy storytelling are encouraged to apply.
- Work during business hours on weekdays and work Saturdays on occasion.
- Campus Tours:
- Lead informative and engaging campus tours for prospective students and their families.
- Highlight key campus facilities, academic buildings, residence halls, and recreational areas.
- Provide historical and contextual information about the institution.
- Knowledge of Campus:
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the campus layout, facilities, and services.
- Stay updated on academic programs, majors, and extracurricular opportunities.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively and enthusiastically with tour participants.
- Address questions and concerns from prospective students and families.
- Tailor the tour experience to the interests and needs of each group.
- Visitor Engagement:
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all tour participants.
- Share firsthand experiences and insights about student life on campus.
- Encourage interaction and engagement during tours.
- Admissions Support:
- Assist the Admissions team in prepping the presentation room such as moving chairs, refilling beverages, and snacks.
- Feedback and Evaluation:
- Report any issues or concerns to the Campus Visit Experience Coordinator.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance tour guide skills.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a UDM Student enrolled full-time.
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to lift 1-10lbs. Reasonable accommodation will be offered if needed.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Depending on the student's schedule
