Graphic Design Internship 2025-2026
The Graphic Design Internship through Stony Brook University’s Career Center includes developing digital and print content to support the promotion of Career Center services, resources, events, and fairs. This internship provides valuable experience and connections for students interested in graphic design, web design, social media management, UI/UX Design, and other related fields. The first semester is unpaid and the second semester is paid based on performance.
These internships are open to students of all majors and backgrounds. Each role offers hands-on experience and the chance to develop skills that are valuable across any field, making them a great opportunity for anyone looking to grow professionally and expand their career readiness.
Students must commit to this internship for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, earning 6 credits (3 per semester) to fulfill EXP+.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing/Communications (MarCom) team and professional staff to design marketing collateral for Career Center social media accounts, publications, special events, and bulletin boards, etc. Specific assignments may include:
- Career Center digital/print promotional materials for events and initiatives
- Developing graphics for social media campaigns
- Creating branded reports and guides in collaboration with data analysts and other intern teams
- Support major events including all job fairs throughout the academic year
- Support team in occasional street marketing (tabling events and announcements)
- Ensure Career Center materials adhere to Stony Brook University brand guidelines
Learning Outcomes:
- Increase graphic design skills using various design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Gain an understanding of connections between design and marketing strategies
- Increase knowledge of how to assess client needs to produce effective marketing collateral
Qualifications:
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status by the start of the Fall 2025 semester
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 **Note: To be considered for this internship, please ensure that your cumulative GPA is reflected on your resume.*
- Working knowledge of desktop publishing software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Must be able to use Photoshop to create promotional material
- Experience creating content for social media platforms (i.e., Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Availability to attend job fairs
- Ability to take criticism and willingness to take suggestions
- Flexibility and ability to manage time well and strive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a quick turnaround
- Must be able to work independently
- Demonstrate initiative and dedication

- Ability to use various social media platforms and social media management tools: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job responsibilities
