Overview

CAES is an industry leader in the design, manufacture, support of advanced integrated RF systems for high performance electronic warfare, radar/communications, flight test, and embedded electronic instrumentation sub-systems.  Our products are used by US and international customers in manned aircraft, UAVs, space launch vehicles, missiles and guided weapons applications.

 

CAES  is looking for motivated aspiring Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-Ops to work in a highly collaborative, growing electronics product development environment at the Lancaster, PA facility. You will work closely with design engineering, test, management, and production teams to support the development, prototype, verification, and manufacturing of complex embedded electronic products and test sets.  Ideal candidates will have multi-disciplinary capabilities in addition to electronic systems background. 

 

This is a growth and development position primarily for 3rd and 4th year college students, or graduate students, looking to gain experience and skills toward their intended degree.  We offer flexible full and part-time work schedule options to accommodate and support student class load requirements.

 

This is a high exposure position for an aspiring student looking for an opportunity to take things to the next level, advance their career, grow their soft skills, and explore opportunities for possible employment. This is a high value position with significant impact to the bottom line. This is not a position for passive individuals needing daily task guidance or micro-management.


Responsibilities

  • Independently interpret requirements and specifications and conceptualize solutions.
  • With oversight, design and engineer product, systems, and sub-systems.
  • With oversight, conduct structural and thermal analysis of electronics and electronic enclosures for harsh environments.
  • With oversight, help generate design models and drawings for new product design.
  • With oversight, participate in assigned project tasks on current programs.
  • Independently perform related or supporting engineering work assignments as business needs require.


Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Current student enrolled in a relevant and accredited undergraduate degree heading into their Junior or Senior year, or graduate engineering program.
  • Experience with a CAD software
  • Ability to work on ITAR/EAR programs
  • Ability to effectively collect, track, and accurately input data
  • Ability to responsibly operate independently to complete assigned tasks
  • Proficient with communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to generate presentations and deliver project or task status reports in a group setting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

 

Desired Skills:

  • Coursework in structural dynamics
  • Coursework in materials
  • Working knowledge of structured and thermal analysis using ANSYS or similar FEA analysis applications.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD modeling and design applications.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Visio, or Project.

This position is open to local / regional candidates within reasonable commuting distance. We do not offer travel or housing assistance for this position.

 

Salary Range: $20 - $26 per hour. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
