The WCU Director of Autism Services is looking for Graduate Assistants for Spring Semester of 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for graduate students with interests and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and working with people with ASD.

·        Graduate students will be responsible for assisting the program with daily workflow as well as:

§ Planning and Assisting with weekly social activities

§ Planning and Assisting with community involvement

§ Planning and teaching (using best practices) of individual skills in the areas of employment, independence, socialization, and organization/time management

§ Developing resource materials for students in the areas of: campus, socialization, independent skills, employment, laws, etc.

§ Data collection and analysis

§ Writing weekly/semester summaries

Qualifications & Requirements: 

·        Full-time or part-time Graduate Students at West Chester University.

·        Must have knowledge and experience in the following:

o  Autism Spectrum Disorder-Level 1

o  Breaking down skills to teach specifics

o  WCU campus and resources

·        Must commit to 10-20 hours of work and two Saturdays a semester; other hours can be flexible (M-F 9a-6:30p)

·        Ability to work on own as well as part of team.

·        Must be willing to learn more about ASD and effective teaching strategies

·        Must be model students for appropriate social interactions (socially comfortable to lead, interact, and engage with others).
