Chief, Business Operations Support Section
The Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) Control Branch is part of the Division of Communicable Disease Control, within the Center for Infectious Diseases, of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
The CDPH is dedicated to protecting and optimizing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. The mission of CDPH’s STD Control Branch is to reduce the transmission and impact of sexually transmitted infections (STI), mpox and viral hepatitis in California, particularly among communities disproportionately affected by these infections. In collaboration with local health jurisdictions and other community partners in public and private sectors, STD Control Branch supports equitable STI, mpox and viral hepatitis prevention and control efforts by providing statewide leadership, policy, guidelines, training, technical assistance, surge capacity and outbreak response; and by supporting safety-net service delivery in priority settings and populations.
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing statewide leadership, guidance, technical assistance and direct support for the prevention and control of sexually transmitted infections and the reduction of their complications.
The Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) is the Section Chief of the Business Operations Support Section within the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Branch (STDCB). The SSM II will oversee the administrative and program support functions, providing technical and analytical support in administrative services to all levels of management. The SSM II is responsible for the management and oversight of a large volume of allocations, grants, and contracts from numerous and diverse funding sources; management of STDCB business operations and direct supervision of two Unit Chiefs, Staff Services Manager Is in the Business Operations Support Section. There will be at least 10% travel to and from Richmond, CA and Sacramento, CA.
