As a Human Resources Intern, you will actively support the daily operations of our HR department. This internship provides hands-on experience in essential HR functions such as HR Information Systems, Compliance, Compensation, and Benefits. Additionally, you will gain practical experience with HR reporting and visualization tools, including Tableau and IBM Cognos Analytics.
This full-time hybrid role provides flexibility, allowing you to work from either of our offices in Grand Rapids, Ionia, or Troy, and also spend a few days working from home each week, with a schedule coordinated with your manager.

What You Will Do:
- Streamline reporting processes using advanced tools like Cognos Analytics and Tableau to provide insightful and actionable HR metrics.
- Support data management activities, including accurate data entry, regular data integrity checks, and thorough data clean-up to ensure high-quality HR data.
- Assist in streamlining the onboarding process through the organization’s HRIS system, enhancing the experience for new hires and improving efficiency.
- Enhance employee well-being program efforts and develop strategic plans for the remainder of 2025/2026, ensuring alignment with company goals and employee needs.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of Benefits pages on our intranet, ensuring comprehensive and user-friendly access to benefits information.
- Document HR processes and procedures meticulously to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all HR functions.
- Organize and maintain the Total Rewards team shared folder, ensuring it is up-to-date, accessible, and well-structured for team efficiency.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in HR technology to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
- Coordinate and update the Total Rewards compliance calendar to ensure all deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
- Contribute to various HR projects and initiatives as assigned, providing support and insights to drive successful outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Proficient in Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and IF statements.
- Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics or Tableau, or a strong desire to learn these tools.
- Shows interest in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) or has prior experience with any HRIS system.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, while exhibiting a high level of initiative and a strong willingness to learn.
