The Program Manager is an integral part of the Student Life team that advances the College's commitment to student engagement, student success and retention, equity and inclusion, and student leadership within a diverse campus community. The Program Manager oversees a multitude of campus wide programming and directly supervises a variety of student leaders aiding them in their leadership and personal development within a dynamic office setting. 

  • Primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees to: develop, implement, manage, and evaluate a robust student activities program 
  • Co-supervise student hourly employees involved with Associated Student Government and Arts & Entertainment Board, including providing training, guidance, and management of operations budget and allocation of resources. 
  • Provide support and oversight for approximately 40-50 clubs/organizations including facilitating trainings for student leaders and advisors, efficiently communicating and enforcing club-related policies and procedures, assessing/advocating for the needs of the club/organizations, their members and advisors, and assisting members with the completion of event and funding related paperwork. 
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute comprehensive campus wide programming that meets the needs of and represents Shoreline’s diverse student populations including resource fairs, engagement workshops, and athletic support events 
  • Provide support for department-led initiatives including Welcome Week, Commencement, Sun Fest, leadership development initiatives, and Student Leadership Awards 
  • Represent Student Life and Shoreline at regional/national conferences, professional and community meetings, etc. and collaborate with offices/units across campus and with external partners including International Education, Athletics, DEI Offices, etc. on programming or initiatives 
  • Manage incoming requests and submissions for communication platforms including PUB digital signage system, social media accounts, and bulletin boards 
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate state and college accounting policies, procedures and regulations 
  • Serve on college-wide committees as needed/assigned 
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned 
  • Assist in coordination/facilitation of student staff and club leader training on unit policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Coordinate programs, services, and activities that support student engagement, persistence, retention, and success. 
  • Other duties as assigned of a similar level/nature 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 
  • One year of professional experience in an educational, social services, or student leadership development setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience

 

KNOWLEDGE OF: 

  • Microsoft Office Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word programs
  • FERPA, Title IX, and other applicable laws, rules, ordinances, and regulations related to students
  • Student development theory and practice and student advocacy
  • Relevant policies related to student activities, student clubs, and student fee use

 

SKILL IN: 

  • Contributing to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural appreciation and responsiveness
  • Applying student development theories in conjunction with administrative policies/processes 
  • Overseeing student programs, fostering student leadership, and leadership development
  • Collaborating with and meeting the needs of marginalized groups

  • Providing leadership, motivating staff and colleagues, and working collaboratively across job classifications, College divisions, and between agencies and organizations 
  • Time management, multitasking, and coordinating work outcomes to meet deadlines while working with multiple partners 
  • Preparing clear/concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication 
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound judgment within legal guidelines 
  • Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College 
  • Critical thinking, consensus building, and problem-solving skills
  • Gathering information, sorting, drafting, and providing analysis for budgetary and purchasing projects
  • Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within College/legal guidelines 
  • Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements 
  • Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks/prioritize competing demands 
  • Ability to read printed and digital materials 
  • Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written skills 
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY: 

This position is allocated to pay range 48, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.
