CNC Machinist

CNC Set Up Machinist

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Education: Two-year degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred, or a high school diploma/general education degree (GED) with equivalent experience. Formal training in CNC programming is a plus.

Experience: Two years of experience as a CNC Machinist preferred.

Specific Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience producing tight tolerance components in a production environment
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machining processes using a wide variety of machine tools
  • Experience with CAD/CAM is a plus (AutoCAD, MasterCam, Solidworks or equivalent software programs)
  • Experienced in manual and CNC type machine set-ups, monitoring, change-overs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of inspection devices to inspect components produced
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other team members
  • Willingness to learn and at times teach others
  • Reports To: Area Supervisor

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to produce components efficiently and accurately.
  • Perform in-process inspection of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements
  • Monitor parts as they are completed on the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other production team members
  • Communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Mill operation hours: Monday – Friday 5:00AM – 5:00PM
    • Sometimes optional late shift with differential pay
    • Optional overtime available after training
    • Optional 4 10s after training
  • Training hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM Monday – Friday

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy raw materials and finished parts (50lbs.-75lbs.)
  • Requires the use of magnetic lifts/hoists to maneuver parts in and out of the machines
  • Movements such as reaching, bending, and twisting to perform certain tasks
  • Require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Stand and/or sit for long periods of time
